LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KGO) — The Lake Tahoe ski season is just about to kick off thanks to a parade of storms that have dumped several feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada.
The storms are a welcome sight to ski resorts, which are gearing up to open the 2025-26 ski season.

“Thanksgiving is kind of the first big week for Tahoe so with that you can see Truckee is going to start getting really busy, beds will start filling up, restaurants will be bustling, and that’s when a lot of these ski resorts always plan their projected opening day – and if you look around the lake its anywhere from this week to next week,” said Tucker Norred, Boreal Mountain Resort Marketing Director.
Resorts are hoping skiers and snowboarders will arrive on the slopes in the coming days.
A handful of resorts are projected to open by Friday.
