STOCKTON, Calif. — Several people were injured in a mass shooting at a California child’s birthday party, officials said Saturday night.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened around 6 p.m. inside a strip mall shopping center in Stockton, California.
The city of Stockton’s vice mayor, Jason Lee, posted on Facebook saying the shooting happened at an ice cream shop during a child’s birthday party.
Deputies confirm that “approximately 14 individuals were struck by gunfire, and four victims have been confirmed deceased.”
Officials said the area remains an active scene, and investigators are working to gather additional information.
There is no word on a possible suspect.
