“Reasonable Doubt” has had the internet buzzing all season long, with Jax Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi) taking on the case of child star Ozzie Edwards (Kyle Bary), who’s accused of killing his girlfriend Wendy (Rumer Willis). And it’s all about to come to a dramatic conclusion in the season three finale.
There have been lots of jaw-dropping revelations about Ozzie and the enablers around him and everyone is wondering whodunit.
Spoilers ahead if you are not caught up!
Ozzie’s alibi and a key witness in the case, Alex was murdered at the behest of Ozzie’s mother, Monica (Brandee Evans), Ozzie’s agent, admitted on the stand to having an inappropriate relationship with Ozzie when he was underage (!!) and when episode nine ended, we saw Ozzie’s sister Kristin (Kiah Clingman) at the scene of the crime with a gun in her hand and her love interest and Jax’s investigator Daniel (Tim Jo) wondering if she could be the murderer. So at this point, everyone’s a suspect!
Outside of court, Jax has been trying to navigate her father (Richard Brooks) returning to her life, her mom’s (Pauletta Washington) colon cancer diagnosis and a new lawyer at the firm named Bill (Joseph Sikora) who’s trying to undermine Jax so he can make partner.
Whew!
On The Red Carpet recently caught up with McKinley Freeman, who plays Jax’s husband Lewis.
“The response to the show has been amazing and that all starts with (creator, writer) Raamla Mohamed and the world that she created of ‘Reasonable Doubt’ and the world that Emayatzy Corinealdi carries through Jax,” he said. “I mean, we’re so fortunate to have the opportunity to make art with great words and a great script and great team. So I think that’s reflective in how people are responding to it.”
We also spoke with Evans about the finale. She shares our anxiety about the finale episode.
“I love how Raamla arced it out. And so that’s why all of us are stressed out. We’re like, girl, like, wait. It could be this, it could that, it’s so many ‘could bes.'” she said. “Just get ready. I need for you to not be drinking anything, what I mean by that, don’t even have water in your mouth, okay? Because you’re gonna spit it out. You’re gonna lose your mind, you might choke on your water or your popcorn. It is crazy. This finale is insane.”
Freeman shares that sentiment.
“I will tell you that if you think you know everything, you know nothing in the world of ‘Reasonable Doubt,'” he said. “Hit me up after the finale and let me know how you feel.”
Have no fear, sir. We’ll be talking.
