Here’s a timeline of the wet weather.
New Year’s Eve
Rain will overspread the region late in the morning with steady showers continuing into the evening.
The afternoon and evening will see steady light rain. Winds will be light, and we’re not expecting downed trees or power outages.
Take the rain gear with you if you will be outside to see fireworks to ring in the new year.
Rainfall totals for most cities will be around .50″.
Coastal flooding is also expected from Wednesday through Sunday due to king tides combined with a storm surge.
New Year’s Day
Thursday’s storm will also be a Level 1 on our Storm Impact Scale.
Friday
Showers are set to pick up with a Level 2 storm. Strong winds may add to the impacts late Friday into early Saturday. The NWS said unsecured objects could be damaged, and some tree damage is possible during that period.
High tides in San Francisco are forecast to reach up to 1.8 feet above normal Friday and Saturday mornings, enough to flood coastal roads, parks and parking lots, though only isolated closures are expected.
Weekend
Rain is set to continue with Level 1 storm this weekend through at least Monday.
