GILROY, Calif. (KGO) — A teenage driver was detained after hitting two pedestrians in a Gilroy crosswalk Friday Morning, killing one of them, police say.
It happened at the intersection of Charles Lux Drive and Lopez Way just after 9 a.m.
Police say a man and woman were hit while walking in the crosswalk, and the man was declared dead at the scene. The woman was flown to an area hospital and is in serious conditon.
They say drugs, alcohol and speed are not being considered a factor in the collision.
The teen is cooperating with the investigation, but no other information is currently being released.
