The California State Transportation Agency has announced a pilot program to crack down on excessive speeding.
As part of that program, authorities will immediately begin reviewing drivers cited for speeding more than 100 miles per hour.
The initiative is known as “Forwarded Actions for Speeding Tickets” or “FAST”.
The citations, regardless of a driver’s prior record, will automatically be forwarded to the DMV.
The department will review cases and the driver’s history to determine next steps, which could include suspension or revocation of their driver’s license.
This administrative process can happen independently of any court conviction.
