Country star Ty Herndon rose to fame in the music industry in 1995, when his single “What Mattered Most” skyrocketed to the top of the charts. Since then, he’s released 16 more Billboard charting hits.
Now, three decades later, Herndon is releasing his memoir, “What Mattered Most,” where he offers an honest reflection of his unprecedented career in the spotlight and the personal battles he’s faced behind the scenes.
From his struggles with addiction and mental health, to his groundbreaking decision to come out as gay in a traditionally conservative industry, “What Matters Most” delves into the arrest, marriages, lawsuits, secret relationships and the devastating relapse in 2020 that has shaped his path today.
We caught up with the singer at CMA Fest this year, where he told us, “My Mama taught me something a long time ago. If you go stand in front of that microphone, remember (…) what’s coming out of that microphone is going to hit millions of people through their homes, their hearts and radio.”
In a statement about the memoir, Herndon said, “For thirty years, I’ve told pieces of my story through my music and my words – but this book has given me the chance to tell the whole truth.”
“What Mattered Most” hits shelves March 31, 2026.
