SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — On this Cyber Monday, shoppers are expected to spend more than $14 billion online, according to Adobe Analytics.
Millions of Americans are shopping online on this Cyber Monday looking for a bargain or hoping to score a discount on a big ticket item.
“A lot of women are looking at this one, the Dyson hair dryer. It’s normally $550. Today, its $400,” said Natalie Banke, an Amazon spokesperson.
Chances are they’re finding that deal on Amazon.
ABC7 News got a behind-the-scenes look at Amazon operations at their delivery station in Fremont on Monday.

“We are at DXC 5 which is a delivery station for Amazon, which is the last part of the process to get your packages to your doorstep,” said Adam Carr, an Amazon Site Manager.
Amazon says Cyber Monday is essentially their “Championship Game Day.”
At the Amazon facility in Fremont, they’re sorting and delivering 100,000 packages on this Cyber Monday. They typically deliver 55,000 packages a day.
After you snap up that deal from your laptop or phone, those items are boxed up at a fulfillment center.
Those packages go to a sorting and delivery center like the one in Fremont or Milpitas before heading out to your home.

Amazon says they’re on pace to break last year’s record for Cyber Monday.
“Consumers are still looking for deals. we have a ton of offerings, a ton of deals online,” said Carr.
People nowadays can shop 24/7 online but retail experts say Cyber Monday still matters to shoppers.
“Retailers target Cyber Monday with special promotions knowing that shoppers will be there,” said Santa Clara University professor Kirthi Kalyanam.
“There is still a very strong interest in Cyber Monday, this is because not everyone gets everything they want by Black Friday,” said Kalyanam. “The combination of supply and demand and unfinished shopping anxiety still makes Cyber Monday an event.”
Between the deals, the convenience of shopping online, and having packages delivered to your doorstep, online commerce continues to be a bit hit with consumers.
