PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — Maura Matthews is bringing people together by asking passersby to help her paint scenes of Philadelphia.
She calls the project ‘Everybody Paints.’
So far, Matthews has produced three masterpieces with the help of complete strangers. Those include paintings of Independence Hall, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Boathouse Row.
Matthews, who resides in Wyndmoor, recently opened an art studio called ‘Pigs Alley Gallery’ in Flourtown.
There, she hosts classes and engages the community through the arts.
In the future, she hopes to arrange more public art projects and potentially display her work in a gallery for the 250th birthday of the nation in 2026.
