SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The Golden State Valkyries are just one win away from making history and becoming the first expansion team to make it to the WNBA Playoffs in their inaugural season.
The Valkyries have the chance to clinch their spot in front of more than 18,000 fans Thursday night when they take on the Dallas Wings at Chase Center.
The Valks are currently sitting in sixth place with a 22-18 record; they are 1.5 games back from the fifth-place New York Liberty and 2.5 games ahead of the ninth-place Los Angeles Sparks.

After Thursday night, the Valkyries have a tough schedule ahead. They are playing the No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx twice and heading up to Seattle for a tough matchup with the Storm.
If the Valkyries make it to the playoffs, there is one issue: their first home game may have to be played in a different arena. That’s because the Laver Cup, an international tennis tournament, will be played at the Chase Center that week.
