SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The federal government is launching an investigation into Waymo’s self-driving cars.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is looking into reports that a Waymo robotaxi failed to stop properly for a school bus while children were getting off in Atlanta, Georgia, according to The San Francisco Chronicle.
The report said the Waymo car initially stopped beside the bus and then went in front of it, while the flashing red lights and stop arm were still deployed.

It happened back on September 22.
Waymo says it’s already made improvements to its software and is planning more updates soon.
San Bruno police officers pulled over a Waymo car with no driver on September 26 while conducting a DUI crackdown.
Police said the Waymo made an illegal U-turn in front of them.
No citation was issued because there was no driver to cite, but that will change in 2026.
