NOVATO, Calif. (KGO) — Preparations are well underway for what’s projected to be our wettest weekend since November of last year, and the North Bay is in the direct path of this series of storms.
The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a Flood Watch for the North Bay that will remain in effect from Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon.
That wild, wet weather that people have been talking about for days is arriving in the Bay Area.
An atmospheric river is set to soak the region. It’s expected to dump several inches of water. However, the North Bay expects the bulk of the rain this weekend.
Early Saturday in Novato, we saw people clearing away anything that could potentially clog storm drains and gutters.

The rain is expected to be moderate to heavy at times, which will mean our creeks and rivers will rise significantly.
The National Weather Service says back-to-back major storms could drop a month’s worth of rain in San Francisco over a few days.
The rain did not stop shoppers from grabbing a few last-minute Christmas presents at Santa Rosa Plaza.
“It went well. Not too crazy in there right now,” said Tawney Morales.
Dylan Osley isn’t letting an atmospheric river dampen the holiday spirit, but he said he’s ready for the stormy weather.

“We’re stocked up on hot cocoa for the next week,” Osley said.
Nonstop rains and gusty winds mean the possibility of flooding.
The utility yard off Stony Point Road in Santa Rosa is seeing a steady stream of visitors like Salomon Garcia. He saw some flooding around his home during the last atmospheric river.
“In the backyard, the water is too much, and it goes,” Garcia said.
“My barn floods. So does my backyard,” said Amy Tolson.
Tolson and her husband loaded up 10 sandbags in the back of their truck. They plan on coming back for more.
“It can get pretty bad. Some areas, you can’t get through on the roads,” Tolson said. “As long as I can make it to where I need to go safely, not too worried about it. It’s a big inconvenience, especially with the Christmas holidays.”
