
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) — You could be $1.1 billion richer if you hit it big. Monday night’s Powerball drawing starts at 8 p.m.
This is the sixth time in Powerball history the jackpot has gotten to the billion-dollar mark.

Powerball jackpot fever is hitting the Bay Area.
“You got to get in it to win it. Yeah!” said Glo from San Leandro.
“If I hit, it’s 10% for everyone in here, okay?” said William Himes.
At Bevbox in San Leandro on this Monday, ticket sales have sky rocketed.
“I actually play for my dad. So, this is his ticket that I buy for him weekly,” said Christina Alba.

“My mom writes down her number. And then I write quick picks,” said Jeffrey Huezo.
People like Glo dream big about winning.
“I’d pay off my parents’ mortgage. Oh, my goodness. All kinds of stuff. I’d go somewhere and retire in Costa Rica!!” said Glo.
The billion-dollar jackpot is the fifth largest ever in the game’s history. It has an estimated cash value of $498.4 million. The odds of matching all six numbers are 1 in 292.2 million
This game of chance is worth it, says George Fusco.
“It’s basically just luck. So, you could lose with 10 and win with one. so, I just buy one,” said Fusco.

People know hitting it big could be a game changer.
“I start thinking about – okay, now I need to change my address, my phone number, make sure I change my email address because a lot of people are going to come after me, asking me for money,” said Fusco.
Saturday night, two Bay Area lottery players missed the $1 billion Powerball jackpot by one number. But, they each won $1.16 million.
One winning ticket was sold in Milpitas at 7-Eleven on Clearlake Avenue.
The other was sold in Pleasant Hill at a Mobil gas station.
The two winners have yet to come forward.

Back at the BevBox store in San Leandro, hopes are high at the self-proclaimed “lucky store.”
“Last time, the lady hit $500,000 for Mega Million. A lady hit in Scratchers too — $100,000,” said Vicky Singh, manager of BevBox.
The hope – that there’s more luck in store.
“Somebody hit here, we are more popular,” said Singh.
“Good luck everybody!” said Himes.
No one has hit the Powerball jackpot since May 31.
