PLEASANTON, Calif. (KGO) — More than 100 people came out for a vigil at Delucchi Park in Pleasanton to mourn Renee Good, the 37-year-old mother of three, who was fatally shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
This vigil was organized by group Indivisible Tri-Valley. It says the goal is to “demand accountability for state violence.” And the group is calling for a full investigation into the shooting.
The vigil was peaceful with prayers and songs of resistance and solidarity.
Organizers say that they aren’t opposed to immigration reform, rather raising concerns about how ICE has conducted itself.

“We are so opposed to how they have gone on about it. There are pluses maybe in the immigration reform. We are not opposed to immigration reform. But how they are going about it is just disgusting and despicable,” said Barry, who did not give his last name, with Indivisible Tri-Valley.
Some in the crowd called for ICE to be abolished due to lack of accountability and transparency.
Videos of the incident have gone viral, sparking outcry from cities across the country.
According to Department of Homeland Security, Good was allegedly attempting to run over an ICE agent when she was shot. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz have disputed those claims.

Indivisible Tri-Valley said Minneapolis may be far way, but that something similar could easily happen in the Tri-Valley, especially with a Federal Correctional Institution being in nearby Dublin.
“It could happen here. We’ve got a detention facility that the federal government is trying to turn into an ICE detention facility. Anytime it could change and become a Minneapolis, a Portland or anybody,” Barry said.
The group is calling on East Bay congressional representatives to do more. The group plans more activities over the coming weekend.
