SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) — Santa Clara police shot and killed a person after responding to a report of a stabbing at a home Wednesday morning.
Around 6:18 a.m., police say officers responded to a stabbing victim off Eisenhower Drive.
Police say when officers arrived, they encountered a suspect, and shot and killed them. Tey did not say why officers opened fire or if the suspect had a weapon. Police say the officer was not injured.
Warren Parinas lives next door, he said he heard the gunshots.
“Definitely scary and nerve racking because I was right next to it,” Parinas said.

Police say the suspect was taken to a local hospital where they died. The stabbing victim is being treated for their injuries.
Santa Clara resident Aryella Batel Duron said she knew it was serious by the law enforcement response.
“I’m blown away, I mean, as soon as I saw the yellow line, I knew exactly what was going on,” Batel Duron said.

Police said this is still an active investigation. They did not say whether the victim or suspect knew each other.
We spoke with a man who said he owns the home. He didn’t want to go on camera, but said he rents this house out to four different people.
To neighbors, the entire incident is shocking.
“This area has been nothing but safe in the 35 years I’ve been in and out of this neighborhood. I’ve never seen anything going on here,” Batel Duron said.
Santa Clara Police said the department had a shooting involving an officer in February of 2024.
Police say they’re working with the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office for a joint investigation. They hope they can provide more information Thursday afternoon.
