SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) — The countdown is on to the Super Bowl, the game is expected to bring a business boost to Santa Clara, but it will also come with a price tag.
Hundreds of 49ers fans poured into Levi’s Stadium to celebrate football and community.
On Wednesday night, the 49ers Foundation held their annual fundraiser where the entire team dines on the field to help raise money for Bay Area youth.
49ers Offensive Tackle Colton McKivitz said it’s amazing to be a part of it.
“Now we’re a week and a couple days away from opening in Seattle so it’s exciting to be here – you know we always know this dinner is coming, and when you get to it you know the season is right around the corner,” McKivitz said.

Levi’s Stadium will host the Super Bowl in six months.
Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor said right now the city is in ongoing negotiations with the Bay Area Host Committee, and the 49ers to develop what’s called a ‘Super Bowl LX League Event Agreement.’
“I love sports and I know this is great, but at the end of the day everyone will leave and we’ll be stuck with these bills I don’t want that- I want to make sure we’re protected,” Gillmor said.
The city has developed a preliminary estimate of the cost for Super Bowl LX of $6.3 million. The estimate includes projections for event planning, training services and equipment expenses.
“We front everything and then we have to go through the reimbursement process,” Gillmor said.

On Thursday, the city of San Jose revealed its game plan for all the excitement in order to create a successful year for the city in 2026.
According to the draft agreement, the Bay Area Host Committee gets to determine which costs are reasonable to reimburse. Something Gillmor would like to see amended.
“And then if they don’t pay it, then it goes to the 49ers and they get to determine if the costs are reasonable so now we’re months down the road right. And if they determine the costs are not reasonable then we could go to arbitration,” Gillmor said.
The Bay Area Host Committee sent this statement to ABC7 writing, “While the Agreement is still in the process of being refined, the Bay Area Host Committee is once again committed to ensuring the City of Santa Clara has no risk and significant reward for the Super Bowl and World Cup.”

49ers fan Katrina Williams would love to go to Super Bowl 60 in her father’s honor.
“He went to Super Bowl number one, and he would fly to the Super Bowl and he worked nights at the post office so he would fly back home after the game to be at work at the post office the next day – never missed the Super Bowl, and never missed a day of work,” Williams said.
City council will see this agreement in three weeks for final consideration and approval.
