The Nader sisters shake up reality TV with their new show, ‘Love Thy Nader’

From the Bayou to the big city, the Nader sisters are taking over reality TV!

“Love Thy Nader” follows Brooks, Grace Ann, Mary Holland and Sarah Jane Nader as they live, work and love in New York City.

Brooks, a successful Sports Illustrated model, gained recent notoriety by competing on “Dancing With The Stars” last season with Gleb Savchenko as her partner. Many speculated that “Love Thy Nader” was a result of her being on “DWTS,” but in a conversation with On The Red Carpet, Brooks revealed the show has actually been a long time coming.

“It’s been in the works for nearly three years. We ended up meeting this guy, totally randomly. His name is James Dixon, he goes by Baby Doll. He’s a legendary agent in Hollywood, and he was just so entertained by us and he thought, ‘why don’t we make this into a show,'” Brooks said.

Dixon is also Jimmy Kimmel’s agent, which explains how the talk show host became an executive producer on the show.

“Jimmy met us. We went to one of his shows and he was also entertained. And he just hopped right on board, which, we’re so honored to have him as a producer,” Brooks said.

The show is a no-holds-barred look into the sisters’ lives. When Brooks’ romantic relationship with Savchenko came to a messy end with accusations of cheating (accusations Savchenko denies), cameras captured it all. But she has no regrets about viewers witnessing her heartbreak.

“It was very hard to not acknowledge that there were cameras there because it was a real thing that I was going through and it was a real struggle on a daily basis for me,” Brooks explained. “I’m hoping that somebody out there can see this and see that it happens to everyone and maybe they can see some of the signs and prevent it from happening to them.”

“I will say I grew from that relationship and I learned what I don’t want in my next partner. And, you know, I think overall I’m trying to stay positive about it, but it was a painful thing to relive when I was re-watching those first couple of episodes….But, you know, we’re moving onward and upward,” Brooks continued.

If there is an overarching theme for the Nader sisters on this show, “onward and upward” could be it, as all four Nader ladies work to achieve new goals.

The season shows Mary Holland making the decision to leave her corporate job for what she called “micro-retirement.”

“Definitely not an easy decision. I mean, the safety of the corporate environment, I was really used to, and my dad did not like that decision, which you’ll see in the show. But I will say my sisters really supported me in it because I watched them be their creative selves and model and do all this stuff and I got to join them sometimes. But I was kind of ready to join them full time and do my own thing. So it was definitely a little battle with my dad and me trying to just follow my dream,” Mary Holland said.

Grace Ann took time off from her modeling career to go back to school. On the show, viewers will see her get more serious about her modeling and about straightening out her life.

“I move in with the sisters. I decide to put my best foot forward, re-do my entire book, which does take a lot of work. And then there’s also this dynamic of I’m going to visit my boyfriend a lot. And in New York, you very much have to be here going to castings and be present to get any work. So there is that kind of push-pull factor that I think a lot young girls experience when they’re in a relationship and also having professional careers,” she explained.

Sarah Jane, who is also a model, helps Grace Ann as much as she can, while she’s navigating her own life and relationships. She identifies as queer, which was not exactly a welcome revelation in her strict Christian household growing up.

“I’m very shy to start with, so I was of course nervous,” Sarah Jane said. “It’s a huge platform for us as sisters, and so I would be an idiot not to take advantage of that and talk about the things that I’ve gone through and talk about the real things that I’m going through in life, and a lot of that is surrounding my sexuality. It’s not my whole identity, but it is an important part of my life, and so. I wanted to share that with everyone watching and hopefully speak to someone at home that is going through the same thing.”

“Love Thy Nader” airs Tuesday on Freeform and the entire series is streaming on Hulu.
